ASTUVA – the story behind the name and the brand identity
The name of the ASTUVA product line comes from the Astuva rock paintings located in Saimaa, which
are one of Finland's most famous prehistoric sights. The rock in the rock painting
is said to have been shaped into a form resembling human faces – and it is precisely from this
story that the series' name and identity have drawn their inspiration.
The face silhouette visible on the product labels was designed by the South Savo artist Eeva-Mari
Lahtinen. The silhouette interprets the shape of the rock in a modern and minimalist way, combining the Saimaa-inspired nature, Finnish design, and the recognizable look of the ASTUVA series.
